How It All Started
Therapy Dogs of Long Island was founded by Terry Gallogly to bring comfort and joy to her niece Lily, who was born with a debilitating brain condition. What began as a personal mission of love has grown into a dedicated team of therapy dogs and volunteer handlers serving communities across New York.
It’s that unconditional love and non-judgment that brings the most joy.

Because of Lily, Terry and her team have gone on to visit dozens of locations, complete hundreds of visits, and bring joy and comfort to thousands of people. Through the years, Therapy Dogs of Long Island have touched countless lives, creating moments of happiness, connection, and relief for those who need it most.
We remember Lily for her bright smile, joyful spirit, and the love she brought to everyone around her. Her memory continues to inspire the years of educating, connecting, and spreading love, comfort, and healing through Therapy Dogs of Long Island.
